The Gifts of God for the People of God. Whoever you are ,wherever you have been, you are welcome at God’s table. -Eucharistic Invitation- St. John’s Episcopal Church

On behalf of St. John’s Episcopal Church, I welcome you in the name of Jesus Christ to your “neighborhood church.” We have been a vital part of the tricities (College Park, East Point, Hapeville) community for over 100 years. With God’s help, we continue to serve the community and be a church in which we work hard to make sure everyone is welcome.

What to Expect at an Episcopal Worship Service

Episcopal Worship has been called a “skill set” by some because we are liturgical and our worship requires participation. We pray with “common prayer”, most often from the 1974 Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. Not to worry! We work hard to make our church bulletins “user friendly” keeping in mind that first time visitors to an Episcopal service can find the worship a little challenging.

Worship with your Entire Being

We engage our entire being during worship by moving, singing, speaking, eating, drinking, and engaging with all of our senses. We read at least 3 passages of scripture (sometimes 4) and are treated to a concise sermon from the Celebrant or Officiant for that week. Most weeks at St. John’s we celebrate The Holy Eucharist (aka The Lord’s Supper) using Rite 1 (“thees and thous”) or Rite 2 (modern language). Other weeks, especially when our priest is taking a day off, we pray Morning Prayer, usually led by a lay worship leader.

Like many congregations, we have fully adapted to the “new normal” by offering services and formation groups online and in person. Join us to learn about God’s Word at our Wednesday Night Bible Study on Zoom. Join us to pray online at Morning Prayer on Tuesday or Thursday morning and Compline (night prayer) Thursday evening. We invite you to  join us in worship on Sundays at 10 AM, in person or online.

If you would like more information, please join our e-mail list for our weekly Eagle Notes email newsletter. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning at St. John’s soon and hope that we can be a part of your spiritual journey, whoever you are, or wherever you may be.

Peace and Blessings,
